an afternoon in the sun.

Yesterday I had work for the majority of the day, which was quite depressing. Any time the sun is shining I feel the need to be outside enjoying the fresh air, the warm rays on my skin. My work day yesterday was defeating in general, but there's no need to dwell on the negatives. After work a friend of mine wanted to go out and take photographs/hike around the local hills. Of course, I was completely open to the idea, excited to end the day on a positive note.
We decided to visit a local hiking trail near my house, which has a lovely valley right near the trail. We took some shots of my outfit, as well as me photographing some of the flora, etc. Afterwards we decided to take a drive out to San Francisco, setting up a shoot inside one of the main domes of the Exploratorium. All in all it was a delightful day, and I am so glad that I have such wonderful friends in my life!

The dress that I'm wearing here is the one I had talked about in my last post! I could not wait any longer to wear it, and after wearing the dress, I love it even more!

Lounging by the Bay

Lately, the weather has been so sporadic; rain and cloudy skies forced me to take refuge indoors almost every day. Thankfully, this weeks weather seems to be looking up! Taking advantage of every opportunity to be pants free, I decided to don my vintage romper. My thigh high nylons gave the perfect coverage for the low 70's weather, still creating the playful look I was aiming for.

While out with a couple of my close friends, we also decided to stop by Sol Food, a restaurant that makes some of the best Puerto Rican food I've ever had. Here is a picture of my tostones veggie sandwich (it was quite delectable).

I also had a chance to shop at a downtown vintage boutique that I just discovered, called Aubergine. I had originally visited the shop up in Sebastopol, though I am rarely able to visit said shop due to transportation issues. Thankfully, they have opened a sister boutique that carries some lovely clothing pieces! I purchased a nautical-esque calf-length dress, which I'll be sure to post pictures of soon.

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Refreshing colors

I finally received my new American Apparel clutch in the mail yesterday! I've been looking for a bag that gives the same tinge of excitement as the S/S Celine clutches, and my new bag is exactly what I envisioned. Though I tend to be "safe" when purchasing accessories, I felt the need to stray from my personal norms, purchasing something that reflects the new spring trends that have emerged on the runway.
Here are a few quick shots I took in my yard yesterday, just to show off my new bag. I am enamored with it, so don't be surprised if you see a myriad of shots featuring said clutch in the future.

Welcoming in my new blog.

The other day, I decided to start up a (new) blog. Though I already have a tumblr, I feel that it isn't a proper outlet for my personal thoughts, photographs and other objects. I started a separate tumblr from my style oriented page, yet I wasn't fully committed to it. Everything felt so impersonal, and I want a connection with my writing. So, here's my new attempt at a personal blog. I plan on writing as honestly as possible, adding in photographs that I have taken, as well as pictures taken of me. This blog will be filled with personal opinions, photographs, fashion and much, much more. I hope whoever is reading this enjoys the things I have to say.

The following pictures were taken on Sunday, just as the sun was setting. This is my absolute favorite time to go shooting, and the landscape for these shots is absolutely stunning. I have always loved the rich color of the "golden hour", and I am so glad I was able to go out and take advantage of the beautiful scenery!

A few months ago, I indulged in purchasing a new lens so I could have more variety in my lens selection. Before buying said lens I had my simple kit lens, which I doubt I will use much anymore.
These photographs were taken with a 50mm 1.8, on my Canon Rebel XSI.
The landscape/nature shots are both by me.
