Beach Day

The other day I visited a nearby beach lining the San Francisco bay, needing a serious break from the heat of summer. My thin tee and airy shorts helped to keep me cool, and I brought along my new cardigan for the occasional breezes. My friend and I snapped photos of one another and the serene vista, acknowledging how lucky we are to live less that 20 minutes from a wonderful waterfront.
On another note, I am so glad to be out of school for the summer! Though I am working five days a week, there is no stress. I'm sure you have noticed the lack of posts, sorry about that! Days off are so precious, and I plan on taking advantage of all my free time. Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful June weather, I know I am!

Summer Chaser

Earlier this week the sun was blazing and I needed my first "summer" outing. Weather in the weeks prior was pitiful, so I couldn't leave a golden opportunity to enjoy the weather behind. I went on a hike with some friends out on mount Tamalpais and also visited a bay area levy (it's right behind my grandmothers house, and I grew up taking strolls with family down the silent dirt trail). In between our scenic adventures, we spent the afternoon chatting, taking photographs and driving on the backroads of marin. As a perfect end to our time spent together, we ate at one of our favorite San Francisco restaurants, Papalote. Some of the best Mexican food I've ever eaten (though the grilled tofu I order as my "meat option" is far from traditional). The weather was great, the conversation was great, and the food was great. I'm excited to see what the rest of summer will hold for me.

Cream maxi

Here I am wearing my newest dress and espadrilles. The shoes were a wonderful, inexpensive find, as was the dress (marked down to less than half the original price). This is my attempt at dressing in wedding attire for a June wedding (not that you can tell, it was pouring rain all day). The bag I'm holding here is my absolute favorite! My mother purchased it at a rummage sale for $7, and I happened upon it in her closet a few years ago. Ever since, it has been my go-to bag for everything. My only wish is that it was a tad bigger, as I can fit very little in it.

Yesterday, my close friend and I attended a family wedding, with me as the plus one for said event. The ceremony was short and sweet (quite literally), and the reception was magnificent. Following the wedding, my friend and I were supposed to see Adele, which we were thrilled for. Through an unfortunate diagnosis of  laryngitis, Adele was forced to cancel the rest of her North American tours, including the one we were planning to see in San Francisco. All I can do is hope that she heals well, and the show is rescheduled asap. I need that fluid, beautiful voice in my life!

Also, go hype my look on lookbook!! You can find the link in my sidebar.
Thanks, everyone :)

Florals

Ciao everyone! This past week has been an eternal downer, with the weather fluctuating from mildly cold to freezing, rain encompassing almost all of my days off. Though it's already June and all I see are grey skies, I've decided to give the finger to global warming. Sans-pants is the way to go, even if the sun is lost behind the dark ominous clouds of this odd winter-summer season. Here I decided to wear layers of tights, along with multiple cardigans. It kept me cozy, and my bowler hat shielded me from the occasional downspurts of rain. I've never had a chance to showcase my favorite dress on this blog, so here you go! It was $5 at goodwill, and when I stumbled upon it I almost had a heart attack. The draping fit is perfect for my body type, and the long sleeves (reaches my wrists) make it a very versatile piece of clothing. I'm also wearing my $3 winter boots with this outfit, which my mother so sweetly purchased for me when she was visiting family members. When she brought them home, I fell in love instantly. I've been needing winter boots (who knew I would need them in late May), and the sole is extremely comfortable.
