Never enough florals.

Sometimes I feel like I should switch up my wardrobe and stray from the constant floral explosion my body often adorns...and then I stop, think for a second and say, screw that. Because one can never have enough florals. I type this as I'm sitting here cross legged, wearing some sick ass floral leggings that were just sent to me from Romwe. Ugh. Floral heaven. I mean really, who doesn't love flowers? I'm obsessed, to say the least. One of these days I'm going to have to count how many floral garments I own. I'm betting it's close to 50. Or more. Probably more.
Anyways...I'm rambling again. I've been doing that a lot lately, which is odd since there's so much I want to update all of you on. I assume it's because I have no idea where to start. Oh, the trials of an unorganized procrastinator. Life's hard, man.

I'm truly head over heels for these waxed jeans sent to me from Urban Outfitters. I received them a few months back as a sneak peek to the fall collection, though I didn't get around to snapping a picture of them till recently. I love the feel of waxed denim, and the fact that they're my favorite color. Also...these babes are extremely comfortable. So sick.

Clash

Lately, I've felt particularly inclined to wear clashing prints. This outfit is one of my favorite concoctions thus far; the earth toned plaid paired with my new (and super rad) feminine floral dress creates an interesting mix of vintage masculinity and modern delicacy. I would be more than willing to wear this outfit day after day, but then what use would come out of all my other clothing?

I picked up these sick shoes at a rummage sale a few months ago for only $4! I've been obsessed with them ever since, they're so comfortable and pair well with almost everything.
I wish I could write more, but I have to head to class soon. Happy Thursday everyone!

Aquatic

Hey everyone! Happy September & happy Labor Day. Obviously, I once again neglected all of you for far too long. My summer officially ended a few weeks ago, as school is now back in session and I'm swamped with reading assignments, essays and accounting work. Blek. On a positive note, I am now the proud owner of visionarydreamss.com! My best friend Kaddie was kind enough to surprise me with my own domain, to which I am so grateful.
Lately, I've been straying from my favorite hues (browns & reds) and wearing a lot more blue. While I do enjoy mixing up my color palette on occasion, I've realized I'll always be most comfortable wearing earth tones, along with bright reds and black.

As I'm sure you can tell from these pictures, I now have a tattoo! I decided to get my dog Jack's paw prints since he's such a significant part of my life; the unconditional love I receive from him every day often pushes me forward when I feel like giving up. It's also a representation of how deeply I care for all animals, big and small! After getting my first tattoo, I'm finally ready to take the plunge and get even more. The process of deciding what piece to get next is so exciting. I can't wait to be covered in art.
Again, happy Labor Day and I hope all of you are doing well! Thanks for reading.

Thermal

It seems summer has reached it's ultimate peak these past few days! The sweltering 100 degree weather has left me either melting outdoors or locked up inside with only a t-shirt on, fan blasting. I'm currently doing the latter and let me tell you, a hot aluminum laptop burning my legs is far from ideal for the moment. I digress. Besides, it's been ages since I've updated all of you on anything!
Hmmm...what to get started on. This week has been absolutely C R A Z Y . I had the pleasure of going to the De Young with my best friend Kaddie to see the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit which was phenomenal. If any of you live around the bay area, I highly suggest going before it ends (next week)! I went in thinking it would only take about two hours max to view the display from start to finish, but it ended up taking over three hours. Each showroom was so intricate, and seeing JPG's couture pieces in person was...well, breathtaking. Like I said, try to go if you can!
The day after visiting the Gaultier exhibit, I went skydiving! Instead of doing the 9,000ft drop that most people do, my friends and I decided to try the 13,000ft drop. Best decision ever, since it made our free fall a full minute instead of thirty seconds! This was the first time I'd ever been skydiving, and the feeling of falling is completely indescribable. I was so overwhelmed with excitement, anticipation and nervousness. I was the first of my friends to jump from the plane, and my stomach dropped when I had to lean over the edge, feet sticking out past the floor and all. After jumping, I felt an overwhelming sense of bliss, alongside an intense adrenaline rush. The sky was clear, the air was crisp and cool and the open fields below were breathtaking. If I had the funds, I would jump again in a heartbeat. I plan on going again in the future, hopefully doing 18,000ft this time!

Since anything with sleeves is currently a death sentence, I've been stripped down to single layers *sheds tear*
Over accessorizing with jewelry helps balance out my crazy eclectic need for tons and tons of layers and prints. This day in particular I felt a bit uninspired, so I was lacking in personal creativity. Meh. I guess everyone has bad days, right?

Have a great weekend everyone!
ps: to those of you who live in North America, are you going to watch the Perseid meteor shower this weekend? It's going to be at its peak late Saturday/early Sunday. I'm really looking forward to gazing out onto the sky & enjoying the show, I hope some of you get the chance to do the same!

Color Pop

It's been far too long since I've posted. Having two jobs is a bit more complicated and time consuming than I imagined it to be, so aside from my time out of work spent socializing I'm busy allllll the time. I need to push myself to blog more!
My closet has been expanding quite a bit lately thanks to my new job and ebay addiction. I scored these jeans from Madewell & though the shoes are also Madewell, I purchased them used off of eBay! The reason behind that is that I only buy recycled leather; when purchasing used leather, my money doesn't allow the tanning industry to profit. I'm sure some people find that hypocritical since I'm a vegetarian, but I believe that an effort to do the right thing at all is better than not trying in any way/shape/form. End rant.

gold tipped collar? unfff.
Thanks to Romwe I also have this rad new sleveless floral blouse! Af if the color, pattern and cut isn't awesome enough, it also has a gold tipped collar? Talk about the holy grail of shirts! Ahhhhh.
rings: h&m, jewelmint / blue bracelet: asos / gold bracelet: j.crew / watch: michael kors

Also! As of yesterday, I have my very first tattoo! My little pup Jacks paw prints are now on my wrist forever, and I'm so happy about it. You can see the bandaged version that I instagrammed here for now, though I'll make sure to post a better photo soon! I've already decided on my next piece which I should hopefully be getting in the next year. I'm so stoked! My wallet...not so much.
Happy Friday everyone!

Dust Bowl

The weather in California has finally heated up! This past week was sweltering, yet I spent every minute I could outdoors. Aside from my July 4th excursions, I also spent an entire day canoeing the Russian River. The trip was so relaxing and although the rowing was quite laborious at times, all in all I had a wonderful time. I've acquired a pretty gnarly tan line (which I honestly didn't think was possible) since I've been spending so much of this summer out in the sun. Thankfully, it's not that bad and I'm still more pale than most people. Yeah!

I've had this shirt for over three years now; I picked it up at a truck stop in New Mexico when traveling cross country with my best friend all the way to Florida. While scanning the knick knacks and souvenirs during one of our many driving breaks, I came across this shirt with two indian heads and a dreamcatcher on it. The combination of the funky acid wash and general awesomeness screamed out to me at the time, and I'm so glad I made the decision to get it. Even though I don't wear this shirt that often (since it doesn't fit with my style that well anymore), I love the fact that it stirs up huge waves of nostalgia for me. I truly enjoyed the summer I spent travelling across the US, and this shirt helps me to remember all the best parts of that trip.

Koshka x Mink Pink Giveaway!

Hey hey! I've teamed up with my sponsor Koshka to give all of you the chance to win a gorgeous Mink Pink dress. Rad stuff, right? Below is a sweet picture of said dress.

I love the lace detailing and draping, as it works so well with the black color and overall cut. Styling wise, I imagine this dress working really well with a black acid wash vest, some sick studded boots and loads of silver jewelry. That's just one possibility, but there are dozens of ways you could work this piece into your wardrobe!

So, onto the giveaway rules/instructions:
1. Head on over to Koshka's site and sign up for e-mail updates in the bottom right corner.
2. Using the same e-mail, comment on this post and tell me how you would style the Mink Pink "faithful" dress!
3. Winners will be chosen based upon the way the dress is styled, so feel free to get wild with it. Polyvore sets, Pinterest boards and the like are totally acceptable as entries! (You don't have to create a visual set, a regular text comment is totally acceptable as well)
Contest applies to US residents only (sorry!). Winners will be announced on Sunday, July 15th. Good luck everyone!

Merica.

Oh hey guys, it's me. Being late to the party as usual. I don't think my procrastinator brain will ever let me do things punctually. Anyways...
Happy belated 4th of July! I hope all my fellow Americans enjoyed your days, whether it was spent indoors avoiding the heat, out firing up the grill or kicking back with a beer in hand, enjoying exploding lights in the night sky. I, for one, had an amazing day. This year was probably the best 4th I've ever had and I'm so glad I was able to spend it with those that are close to me. I lounged at the beach for most of the day (while avoiding a gnarly burn with loads of sunscreen; I definitely learned my lesson from the last burn, ouch) grabbed some veggie burgers after soaking in the sun, and eventually set out to nearby Sonoma to watch the fireworks show. Marin county (where I live) has the most anti-climactic fireworks, so seeing the display last night was a completely different and very enjoyable experience. Laying cuddled up under a blanket with close friends and staring out into the sky can make you feel really insignificant, yet totally grounded. As the embers from the fireworks floated down from above, I felt a sense of total contentness with my life even though there's currently so much going on in my head. It's really hard to explain, but it was an amazing experience that I hope everyone is able to have at some point. All in all, I had a wonderful day filled with deep conversations, silly jokes and an overall comfort of knowing I'm loved so deeply by others and vice versa.
scarf: vintage / sunglasses: ray ban / shirt: american apparel / bikini: forever 21 / shorts: urban renewal / purse: vintage coach
While I'm far from patriotic, as there is very little to be proud of with the United States' current condition, I'm still extremely grateful to live in the US. There are a lot of basic things (and superfluous items, of course) I have that most people do not, so appreciating and embracing these small things is something that I try to do. Besides, I look damn slick sportin some red white & blue. Aesthetically, it's a rad combo!
The grand finale of the fireworks in Sonoma. Truly an epic moment. Doesn't the combination of lights and smoke look strikingly similar to outer space? I couldn't think of anything else the entire time.

I hope all of you have a wonderful day! Thankfully I have today off as well, which I'll probably be spending outdoors perusing the local farmers market. Ciao!

Baker Beach

I know I've been MIA for quite some time now, which I do apologize for. I'm really bummed that I've been putting blogging off to the side for the past few months, since I really do love it. It's been hard to stay consistent with posting since there have been so many other things in my life I've had to prioritize first. I'm hoping that I'll have more free time for blogging in the weeks (and months) to come! To get all of you up to speed, I now have two jobs! I was hired at Madewell a few weeks ago, which I'm totally stoked on. Their clothing is uhmazing, so, of course I want to buy nearly every garment in the store. Unf. So much for saving money.
I'm sure you can tell, but I'll make a note of it anyways. It was ridiculously windy at the beach! I ate quite a bit of hair that day (it tasted sooo good), which left me wishing I had a lifeline of hair ties for moments like those.

These photos were taken out at Baker Beach in SF by my rad friend Ahmed. Y'all should peep his site, even though he hasn't updated in nearly a month. I'll have to get on his back about that, since his blog is one of my favorites to read for a good chuckle.

(I would totally write more in this post, but I have to head off to work. Have a lovely day everyone and thanks for reading!)

Bloom

After quite a few days of being cut off from everyone & everything, I'm back from my mini vacation! I spent three nights of last week out at Bodega Bay with two of my closest friends and had such a blast. Our campsite was right on the beach, it was perfect! After setting up our tent the first day, we dropped everything & headed out to lounge on the beach. The whole trip was phenomenal: hiking, climbing rocks, tide pooling, sleeping in the sand, chasing waves, flower picking, sitting round the fire, story telling, wine sipping and star gazing filled each day, which made time fly by. Even though the trip was short lived, I enjoyed every moment & am so glad I was able to take a few days to relax and reanalyze life. Being surrounded by nature is one of my favorite things, so I felt totally at home while layered up in sweaters, scarves and extra socks chatting under the stars till the late hours of the night.
Below is an outfit post totally unrelated to my camping trip. These floral jeans are so damn rad, and even better than I expected them to be! For future wearing I plan on pairing them with even more floral (ohh yeaah) for a crazy eclectic/overwhelmingly loud look. The more people I can blind, the better.
I titled this post after Beach House's newest album, Bloom. If you enjoy dreamy, hypnotic music then I'd suggest taking a listen! I've had it on repeat ever since it came out earlier this year; it's by far one of my favorite albums I've listened to this summer.

How sick is this felt laptop case? It was gifted to me by Koshka awhile back, and I've been using it to lug my giant MacBook around school ever since. I love that it's made out of a single piece of felt and made in Japan! The quality is insane, and I'm so glad I was able to find a stylish yet durable laptop case.

Happy Monday everyone!

Burnished

Morning everyone! I've totally neglected all of you once again, sorry about that. I was planning on posting this outfit a few days ago, but I've been nurturing a terrible sunburn which has been causing me loads and loads of pain. I currently have the silliest tan lines (or should I say burn lines) all over me as a result from the hiking gear I donned the day I was cooked in the sun. All in all though, the burn was definitely worth it. I spent a beautiful day hiking all around Angel Island and ended the trip with a two hour long snooze on the beach. All the hiking I've been doing this summer has been stellar; I've gotten the chance to fully enjoy the beauty of California and it's given me the opportunity to spend a lot more time with my closest friends, something I'm unable to do during the school year. Next week I'm actually going camping, so here's to summers spent with friends, swimming in the ocean, bonfires on the beach, sleeping under the stars and of course, wearing loads of sunblock!
Just looking at how much clothing I'm wearing here makes me cringe...this past week hasn't gone below 80 degrees, so sweaters of any kind are painful to imagine wearing right now.
I have at least 15 pair of sunglasses, but ever since I've gotten these Ray Ban "meteor" I don't want to wear anything else.
sunglasses: ray ban meteor / fisherman's sweater: american apparel / collared shirt: gap / belt: vintage / satchel: dooney & bourke / jeans: zara / ombre shoes: rachel comey / rings: jewelmint, h&m / gold watch: michael kors / bracelets: j.crew, h&m
Some close ups of my new Rachel Comey shoes. Aren't they rad? I'm so enamored with how the burnished base gave an ombre like effect...these shoes have already become a staple in my wardrobe. The best part is that I bought them off of eBay for a fraction of the retail price! Oh, and they're extremely comfortable. So it's basically a win win.
