It's sheer madness

Decided to wear this number to work yesterday because I was not feeling the "slacks and blouse" guideline I usually follow. That guideline is to help keep me from wasting time getting ready for work, though lately I've thrown that clothing on the back burner. My obsession for maxi skirts grows stronger with each piece I wear. Let's just hope I continue to have some clothing variety when it comes to bottoms...
I feel like a whimsical fairy princess when I twirl around in this number, and believe me, there was no lack of twirling and dancing yesterday.

The River of Water

Yesterday was filled with long drives with the windows down, dips in the Russian River and lounging on sun drenched beaches. Passed the day with Richard, Jack and our friend Tyler down at a nearby river. The weather was perfect for wearing my favorite bathing suit, one that I've had for years and will probably use for years to come. Marin is such a great place to live; a short drive from great beaches, lakes, rivers, mountains and the most important: San Francisco. Hope all is well for my lovely followers!

One More Cup of Coffee

chambray short sleeve button up: american apparel // tri blend cardigan: american apparel // paper bag short: h&m // belt: secondhand // loafers: secondhand // purse: secondhand (vintage nordstroms)

Just a quick outfit I threw on before running to breakfast with a friend at La Boulange, a local French bakery. Drank coffee out of a bowl and chatted about random nothings. A great start to the morning.
This shirt used to be my boyfriends, though he gave it to me since it didn't fit him properly anymore. It is so comfortable, and cuffing the short sleeves gave it the perfect casual/feminine touch.

Lover of Mine

blouse: h&m // maxi skirt: br // platforms: forever21 // wallet: kate spade

Yesterday was the two year anniversary between my boyfriend and I. Time flies, and it hasn't felt like two years at all. I feel so lucky to have someone so intelligent, caring and beautiful in my life. We share so many similarities, and for that I am truly grateful. Our day was fairly laid back, as we just strolled around downtown, grabbed Indian food and watched a romance movie (of his choosing).
The above outfit is actually what I wore to work yesterday morning. My workplace dress code is all black and white, so I try to work different colors and textures into each outfit. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend, I know I have so far.

To The Morning

blouse: h&m // shorts: h&m // clutch: american apparel // sunglasses: ray ban "club master" // shoes: urban outfitters

I love this clutch as much as a mother would love her child.

The flowers are in full bloom in my neighborhood, with explosions of color anywhere you turn. This summer has been so aesthetically pleasing, in the smallest and largest ways. A simple outfit for an ordinary day, I chose to wear my paperbag shorts along with a sheer blouse and thin belt. I havent worn my clubmasters in forever, so I decided it was time to pull them out of the case. They paired wonderfully with what I was wearing, and I'm now realizing that I love these sunglasses so so much. Quirky, yet refined when you wear them with a subtle ensemble.

Just Peachy

I had forgotten how much I love maxi everything! So, I pulled out my chiffon skirt from american apparel and lounged around in it all day. Went grocery shopping and grabbed coffee with some friends, and this skirt was the perfect coverage for the weather. I also love the way it moves in the breeze, creating an ethereal feel. I assumed it wouldn't work well as a summer piece because of the shade, but I was definitely wrong. This skirt is an overall treat, and one that I grow to love even more with each wear. Using peach, orange and brown tones around the skirt helped to give the outfit a proper "seasoned" feel, and I especially love my new nail polish I am wearing here. Fluorescent oranges are my current obsession, and they give a lovely, unexpected pop of color to any outfit.
Wishing you all a wonderful end to the week!

Sun Hands

sheer blouse: h&m // blazer: secondhand // skirt: urban outfitters // shoes: steve madden // sunglasses: ray ban "vagabond"

As per usual my afternoon consisted of hiking around town a bit, and though that was not on the agenda (thus the huge platform wedged I'm donning) it was wonderfully enjoyable, with a few...interesting surprises held in store. On the hiking trail my friends and I sauntered down, there were cows as far as the eye could see. One thing I love about my city (and towns nearby) is that we are known for free range dairy and beef. Though I don't consume the latter, it's great to know that there are easily accessible, humane farms. After attempting to pet/moo with/feed said cows we continued onto a hiking trail for about a mile, and I'm surprised my walk didn't consist of any tripping/skinning of the knees. Thank goodness.

Anyways, enough with my rambling. The weather has been very comfortable lately, so wearing loose thin clothing is a must. My blouse/top are perfect for the warm breeze, and the blazer gives an extra bit of  coziness for later on in the evening. As for my shoes, I have been obsessing over platforms lately. I tend to stray from wearing heels because of my height; when wearing these wedges, I stand at 6 foot 3 inches. When in crowds I definitely feel a bit monstrous, though I've decided that the shoes look much better on than off!

(My failed attempt at feminine bonding over plants with a very large cow)

Second Skin

silk printed blouse: vintage // tri-blend cardigan: american apparel // "second skin" jeans: cheap monday // belt: yves saint laurent, vintage // wooden platforms: forever 21 // avocado clutch: american apparel // sunglasses: oliver peoples

Spent yesterday afternoon/evening/todays early morning with two wonderful friends. Sipped on coffee, saw a comedy film and reminisced on our foolish high school days. The last part was definitely my favorite; looking back on some of the ridiculous decisions I made helped me to realize that I have grown heaps in the past two years.
Decided a casual get together called for a rather comfortable outfit (minus the shoes, I try putting form before function), so I wore my "new" vintage silk blouse, tied in a knot. I love having subtle hints of skin, especially around my torso. As for the jeans, these are the only ones I own that fit me just right, and I bought them for a steal at $30! Full denim, I feel like I could live in them. I feel the same way about my cardigan...if I could take the material and use it as a pillow/sheet set, life would be perfect. Adding on my  clutch helped to give the perfect pop of color; without it I feel that I would have looked boring and safe, definitely something I am not!
Currently I'm snuggled up in bed drinking some fresh brewed coffee, preparing myself for the work day.
I hope all have had a wonderful weekend, xox

The Sky Above, The Field Below

Spent most of the day out in the heat of the sun, enjoying my day off with friends. Picnicked in a park shaded by redwoods, chowing down on some seriously tasty organic pasta courtesy of my girl Diana. After our rendezvous in the park, we headed over to pick up her newborn baby chick! The chick is only two days old, so fluffy and precious. I held it (the sex is yet to be determined) on the long drive home, and it fell asleep in my hand. My heart melted from the overload of cute. I then headed out to see a movie with another friend and ended off my night with a cheesy romance movie, snuggled up in bed with my pup and a cup of tea. The perfect day off, might I say.
